Lecture: Toxins in Our Food & Environment (Maple Room)
Chemical toxins are everywhere; in our food and drinking water, in the air we breathe and the personal and industrial products we use. Studies show most Americans have somewhere between 400 and 800 chemicals in their bodies, typically stored in fat cells. Even newborn babies are born with toxins acquired through the mother's bodies. The human body is designed to eliminate toxins, but our modern world is overwhelming the body’s ability to do so. Very little research has been done on the cumulative and synergistic effects of all these toxins. In this lecture, we will look at some of the existing research and discuss how to minimize our exposure to these toxins and better assist our body with detoxification.

Maintaining a proper pH balance in your body is critical to preventing disease. When bodily fluids become too acidic, our ability to prevent and/or reverse illness is hampered. Acid forming foods, chemicals and stress hormones all create an overly acid environment setting the stage for illness and chronic disease. This lecture will teach you steps to better ensure a healthy pH level including what foods to eat, what supplements to take and the role of stress. An Acid-Alkaline handout will be provided.

Mary Shidler did not let her short stature interfere with a quest to paddle all 1,007 lakes in northern Minnesota’s Itasca County. Sometimes with the help of friends, but often on her own, she carried her kayak through brush, trudged across bogs in tall boots, and put up with hordes of mosquitoes and legions of wood ticks. Along the way, she also learned to trust her own capacity to overcome obstacles, including her fear of being alone. Now she wants to inspire you to follow your dreams. Start your own 101 List of the things you want to accomplish in life. Hear about Goldie, who at age 80, began her bucket list and has successfully accomplished 70% of her goals. If she can do it, so can you!

Documentary Film: Genetic Roulette: The Gamble of Our Lives (Birch Room - organic popcorn and herbal teas)
Newly released! In this stimulating film directed by bestselling author Jeffrey M. Smith, experts expose the potential and possibly serious threats that genetically engineered foods pose to your health. New evidence is beginning to point to genetically engineered foods as a major contributor to rising disease rates in the US population, especially among children. Gastrointestinal disorders, allergies, inflammatory diseases, and infertility are just some of the problems now being implicated in humans, pets, livestock, and lab animals that eat genetically modified soybeans and corn. The assertion that Monsanto, the FDA and the USDA are ignoring a growing health emergency is laid bare. This film may motivate you to change your diet to protect you and your family.
