Lectures for October Wellness Retreat

Toxins in our Food and Environment
Chemical toxins are everywhere; in our food and drinking water, in the air we breathe and the personal and industrial products we use. Studies show most Americans have somewhere between 400 and 800 chemicals stored in their bodies, typically in fat cells. Even newborn babies are born with toxins acquired from their mother. The human body is designed to eliminate toxins, but our modern world is overwhelming the body’s ability to do so. And very little research has been done on the cumulative and synergistic effects of all these toxins. In this lecture, we discuss how to minimize our exposure to these toxins and ways to assist our body in the detoxification process.

The Acid/Alkaline Key to Health
Maintaining a proper pH balance in your body is critical to preventing disease. Your body is over 70% fluid and when bodily fluids (blood, lymph, intracellular and extracellular fluids) become too acidic, your body’s ability to prevent and/or reverse illness is hampered. In order for the body to function optimally, a slightly alkaline condition is required. Acid forming foods, chemicals, negative emotions and stress all create an overly acid environment setting the stage for illness and chronic disease. This lecture will teach you steps to better ensure a healthy pH level including what foods to eat, what supplements to take and the role of stress. An Acid-Alkaline-Acid handout will be provided.

Electromagnetic Radiation (EMFs) and Your Health
Electric and magnetic fields (EMF) are present whenever electricity is generated, transmitted and used. Given electricity’s growing role in modern life one important question is whether exposure to EMF can have harmful health effects. In this lecture, we will discuss the many sources of EMFs, look at some of the scientific research around health issues and discuss ways in which we can protect ourselves and minimize exposure to electromagnetic fields.
