REJUVENATION/CLEANSING RETREAT

Phyto-nutrient rich diets to cleanse the digestive tract have been used in many cultures as a way to maintain optimal health and prevent disease. Proponents of these diets believe that our toxic load from the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water/beverages we drink and the products we put on our skin are at an all time high and the natural detoxification system of our bodies simply cannot keep up. Periodic cleansing diets are a means for lightening the burden for our bodies by eliminating or at least reducing the intake of toxins and strengthening the organs of detoxification (liver, lungs, kidneys) through proper nutrition.



The MHI Rejuvenation Retreat is a 5 day program that is only offered once each fall, spring and summer.  It includes a healthy vegan cleansing diet that is delicious and easy for people to continue when they return home.  The menu provides enzyme rich and alkalizing plant based foods.  Rich in phyto-nutrients, it is mostly raw and organic, with the exception of warming soups especially during cooler months.  It eliminates all processed and chemical laden foods.  Following such a diet for several days allows our bodies to focus on self-healing.  Benefits may include higher energy levels, improvement in digestive health and mental concentration, the elimination of headaches or bloating, reduced allergic response and increased immunity.  Since our program menu offers a variety of healthy foods with adequate caloric intake, it is a safe diet.  However, pregnant or nursing moms or those with specific health conditions, including adrenal fatigue, diabetes or kidney disease, should not undertake a cleansing diet without the consent of their physician.  


While weight loss is often an outcome of a cleansing diet, generally it represents water loss versus true fat loss.  Cleansing diets however are a critical jump-start to a weight loss program, helping people eliminate cravings for sweets and allowing them to feel more in control of their eating habits.  This new attitude and improved sense of well-being can carry on long after the cleansing diet is completed. With a sense of discipline and reduced cravings, the body is reset for easy weight loss going forward.  MHI offers classes on preparing living foods recipes and nutrient dense snacks to ensure that healthy eating continues long after the program ends.
